Ann Arbor Civic Theatre Archives Volunteer Opportunity

The Ann Arbor Civic Theatre (A2CT) is a primarily volunteer-based organization that has been around for over 78 years. It has archives of posters, announcements, and photographs of its productions ranging back to the 1950s.

SAA is organizing volunteer trips that would take up to 5 students at a time to work for 4 or 5 hours at the theater company where the archives are housed (322 W. Ann Street in Ann Arbor). Many different hands have been involved in organizing the archives over the years and A2CT is hoping to develop a system for organizing and retrieving records, and to digitize selected items for presentation on its website. We will be involved in everything from inventorying, arranging and describing, and scanning collections.

If there is enough interest, we will develop rotating teams of 5 to go in at different times to work on different aspects of the project. If there is still more interest, we will find opportunities at other area archives!
