often define themselves and measure their professional growth through associations such
as the SAA since such professional associations afford networking, career enhancement,
sources of knowledge and experience, and opportunities for leadership and mentoring.
The panel for this session includes three SAA presidents (past, current, and incoming)

SAA Research Forum Survey

I'd like to invite you to fill out a survey regarding the SAA Research Forum. The meeting
is held August 28 preceding the Annual Conference. Nancy McGovern and Helen Tibbo are
very interested in getting student input on what research means to you and the kinds of
topics you would like to see included in future meetings.

The survey is brief and located here:

Student Rights and Student Records

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students
certain rights with respect to their education records. In compliance
with federal regulations and University policies, the Office of the
Registrar has the following website available to students which explains
a student's rights under FERPA.

Good first meeting

The A2CT went really well today. Ten people came including David
Wallace and myself. David was very helpful in overseeing what we
should be doing from the beginning. It was great to have him there
and he is very interested in helping with this project and others.

We managed to take many of the boxes down and put them into basic
series. All of the AV materials are also sorted off to the one side.
Only a few people were able to be in the loft, but since we moved
boxes down to the floor more people were able to work.

Canton Historical Society

I met with the Canton Historical Society yesterday. They have a varied collection including paper, photos, oral histories on audio and videocassette, a book collection with copies from as early as the 1730's, maps (large and small), and many physical objects. To start they would like to inventory and arrange the collection to get a better understanding of what they have at the archive. From there, digitization of many of the photographs, maps, and oral histories is possible. They would definitely be interested in having some work with them on a more permanent basis.
