Project: Arrangement and Description of Corporate
Records: Owens Corning

This internship will consist of assisting with the arrangement and description of a large collection of corporate historical records housed in the Ward M. Canaday Center for Special Collections at the University of Toledo. The student will assist in analyzing the records of Owens Corning, the world's largest producer of glass fiber products. From the analysis, the student will develop a processing plan, including identifying record series and conservation issues. The student will also develop an understanding of the history of this company and its relationship to other collections documenting the history of the glass industry currently preserved in the Ward M. Canaday Center. Under the direction of Barbara Floyd, Canaday Center director, and Kimberly Brownlee, manuscripts librarian, the student will work on the arrangement and description of the collection. Students interested in this practical experience opportunity should have already taken the Introduction to Archives class.
