Canton Historical Society

I met with the Canton Historical Society yesterday. They have a varied collection including paper, photos, oral histories on audio and videocassette, a book collection with copies from as early as the 1730's, maps (large and small), and many physical objects. To start they would like to inventory and arrange the collection to get a better understanding of what they have at the archive. From there, digitization of many of the photographs, maps, and oral histories is possible. They would definitely be interested in having some work with them on a more permanent basis. Let me know if you are interested in this opportunity and I'll put you in touch with the archivist there. I would like to set up some work with them for a Saturday in the very near future. Beth and I will work to make sure our projects don't overlap too much so you can work on both if you'd like.

Saturday, February 2 @ 10am

We will leave the West Hall parking lot 930 am and commute to Canton at 930. If it is easier for you to meet us in Canton, that's fine. And it sounds like they will be providing food! No guarantees though. Sign up here so we can figure out how many cars we will need. I think I can drive 6 so that should help. Hope to see you there. Cheers, David
